What is ChoiceCheck?
ChoiceCheck is an AI-powered food analysis app that helps you make healthier food choices by analyzing nutrition labels and ingredients. It provides a 0-100 quality score and personalized insights tailored to your health goals, allergies, and dietary preferences.
How do I get started with ChoiceCheck?
After downloading ChoiceCheck, open the app and sign in with your Google account or Apple ID. You'll then go through a quick onboarding process to set up your health goals, dietary preferences, and profile for personalized recommendations.
Is ChoiceCheck available for Android?
Currently, ChoiceCheck is being developed for iOS devices first, with Android support planned for a future release. Sign up for our waitlist to be notified when the Android version becomes available.
Using the App
How do I scan a food product?
Tap the camera icon in the main menu, then position your phone's camera so that the nutrition label is clearly visible in the frame. Hold steady until the scan completes. For best results, ensure good lighting and that the label is not wrinkled or obscured.
Can I scan barcodes instead of nutrition labels?
Currently, ChoiceCheck only supports scanning nutrition labels and ingredient lists from food packages. Barcode scanning is a planned feature for a future update. For now, simply position your camera to capture the nutrition facts panel clearly.
What if the app can't recognize a product?
If automatic recognition fails, you can manually enter the product name and nutrition information. This helps improve our recognition system for future scans. You can also submit feedback about the unrecognized product to our team.
Nutrition Analysis
How accurate is the nutritional analysis?
ChoiceCheck's analysis is highly accurate for clearly labeled packaged foods. Our AI is trained on thousands of nutrition labels to recognize and interpret standard formats. However, handwritten labels, obscured text, or unusual packaging might reduce accuracy.
What does the nutrition score mean?
The nutrition score is a 0-100 rating that evaluates the food's quality: 0-29 (Poor/Red), 30-49 (Below Average/Orange), 50-69 (Average/Yellow), 70-89 (Good/Green), and 90-100 (Excellent/Green). Scores are personalized based on your health goals and dietary preferences.
How are ingredient warnings determined?
ChoiceCheck categorizes ingredients by risk level: Safe (green), Caution (yellow), and Avoid (red). The app identifies allergens and concerning additives, with each concern rated as low, medium, or high severity. Warnings are personalized based on your dietary preferences and allergies.
Can ChoiceCheck identify allergens?
Yes, ChoiceCheck identifies common allergens listed on packaging and highlights them in your scan results. You can also set up specific allergen alerts in your profile for ingredients you need to avoid.
Account & Settings
How do I update my dietary preferences?
Go to Settings > Health Preferences to update your health goals, allergies, and profile. This will re-run the onboarding process where you can adjust all your preferences. These changes will immediately affect how future scans are analyzed and presented to you.
How do I delete my scan history?
You can delete individual products from your scan history by swiping left on them in the History view. Currently, there isn't a bulk delete option - you'll need to delete items one at a time.
Is my data shared with food companies?
No, ChoiceCheck does not sell or share your personal data with food companies or advertisers. Your scan history and health preferences are used only to provide personalized insights within the app. See our Privacy Policy for more details.
How do I delete my account?
To delete your account, go to Settings > tap on your profile > Account Settings > Delete Account and follow the confirmation steps. You may need to re-authenticate for security. This permanently removes all your data from our servers, including your profile, scan history, and preferences.
